Hobart viewers can receive extra "free to air channels" with the addition of a digital Set Top Box to their television receivers.

ABC announced that it will start a second SDTV channel at the end of February 2005. It will consist of childrens programming, documentary and time shifted top rating programs.

In addition to ABC, SBS, WIN and Southern Cross television channels, Digital Tasmania Television TDT, SBS World News, SBS EPG program guide channel, two SBS radio and ABC DIG radio are being broadcast.

SBS and ABC currently have an upconverted HDTV channel and WIN have space reserved for HDTV so watch this space..

TDT is now being transmitted from Mt Barrow in the north and Mt Wellington, Opossum Bay and Government Hills in the south.
